About Us

We may all know what MUN is, but ask us what it means to us, and you’ll get a different answer every time. To a delegate, it’s a social, networking-filled yet hectic conference that requires immense energy; socially, mentally and physically. To a parent, it can range from being a rewarding hobby or worthwhile investment to an overly time-consuming commitment. To a supervisor, it's a reflection of their success through the achievement of their students who bring such conferences to life. After four years of MUN experiences, I, Yara AlRousan, this year's MontessoriMUN’26 Secretary General have come to understand and relate to each of these interpretations, cherishing each perspective for its own merits, challenges and memories. To me, MUN is about learning what it means to be a global citizen, developing the skills that shape us, and discovering how to become a leader. To me, MUN is about forming friendships that extend far beyond the MUN journey itself. If I could leave one message to anyone reading this, regardless of where you are in your MUN journey, it would be this: let MUN teach you something, embrace it as one of life’s many experiences, make memories that you will carry with you, and, as I always say, have fun!! It is with utmost pride and honor that I fulfill my role as Deputy Secretary General in this year's MontessoriMUN alongside my team and friends who have become family. MUN, to me, has truly shaped so many life-changing aspects that have left an everlasting impact on me as a person. It was never just a conference, never only a heated debate or discussion; it fueled my passion and leadership as a whole. It was a step towards self-discovery, new friendships, and imprinted memories of learning and laughter. I advise all delegates who delve into this experience to cherish every moment, learn from every small mistake or obstacle, and to always strive to make the world a better place even amidst a constructed facade. This is what MUN encourages you to do; it's an uplifting journey that builds your character and shows you parts of yourself you may not have known. As your Deputy Secretary General, I promise to put your needs before mine and do all I possibly can in my power to create a wonderful conference, hoping that your experience at our MUN is as special as mine has always been. “I was once a delegate like you.” These words have been echoing in my mind ever since my first experience, and for the past 5 years I've been fighting and working to make sure one day I can say those words in front of a room of delegates at a conference I can proudly say I helped organize. Now I finally can, yet in a twisted irony, I wish I could be that clueless delegate once again. MUN, as I'm sure you've heard a million times before, is more than just a conference its a place where I've seen people grow and learn. I've had the privilege of being trained and guided by those above me, and nurturing and mentoring those younger than me. What makes MUN special isn't the debate, isn't the people, isn't the organization it's how you make the best of it. I've chosen the people and community path, and I've made lifelong friendships because of MUN. I've learned skills I never would've understood if it were not for those 3 simple days, and now I can finally say I have finished my journey. To the first timer and to the lifelong MUNer. Enjoy it, make friends, take it seriously. Yes its simulation, but what you can achieve in those 3 days proves what you can achieve with a lifetime of dedication. To the mentors I've had and the mentees I've trained, and all the people in between, I say thank you for this incredible journey you have given me. There is something deeply meaningful about returning to a place that first showed you what you were capable of, and this year, I have the utmost privilege and pride of returning to MontessoriMUN as Head of Public Affairs. MUN has become one of the few places where I have not only grown into who I am, but discovered who I am truly capable of becoming. For me, MUN started as a conference, but somewhere along the way it became much more than that. I became more aware of the world around me. You end up learning about cultures, world issues, and perspectives you never imagined you would care about. And the knowledge you gain, both about yourself and the world, stays with you forever. For three days, you leave behind your usual routine and connect to the world in a different way. You are fully present, fully yourself, and surrounded by people who become a part of your journey.Now, I get to experience that in a completely different way. Somewhere between the long days, the endless work, the chaos, and our never-ending contagious laughs,my team has become a family. To everyone joining us this year, I hope you let yourself experience MUN for what it can really be. It has given me more than I could have ever imagined, and I hope to pass some of that on to you .So, Feel the butterflies, feel the nerves, and do not be afraid of them. Don’t treat it as just another conference. Give MUN a chance to become something more, because if you do, I truly believe it will give something back to you. My name is Zaina Ghousheh, and I have the utmost honor of serving as MontessoriMUN’26’s Head of Student Affairs. With this role comes great responsibility, and one of the things I care about most is making sure that you feel welcomed, heard, and appreciated throughout this experience. Whether this is your first conference or your fiftieth, I hope you know that your effort will not go unnoticed, and if you ever need extra clarity or guidance, I am always here to help. Speaking as a formerly shy delegate, I want to dedicate this message to those very delegates joining us this year. For many of you reading, MUN might be an entirely new concept, an odd acronym with no significance, or perhaps something that seems intimidating or overly serious. But in actuality, MUN is what you allow it to be; it will challenge you, for you will research difficult topics, defend perspectives that are not your own, and find yourself looking at the world through perspectives you’ve never previously considered. But you will also laugh, meet people, make mistakes, and realize that nobody is watching or judging you as closely as you think they are. I know it can be hard to have faith that things will go in your favor, but there is something beautiful in not knowing and trying anyway. It's easy to see MUN only for what it offers us. We constantly find ourselves counting our experiences and awards to impress university admissions, and turning it into a competition. However, the passion for MUN is not found until it's experienced, and by experienced I mean let yourself live it. Allow yourself to be present during the conference, immerse yourself in the debate and fall in love with the atmosphere and the people. For three days, nothing else will matter. Time will stand still. It will be just you, your delegation, and the adrenaline pumping through your veins. Now, looking back at MontessoriMUN, the mun that stated it all for me, as a part of the secretariat team, I’m awestruck by the fact that i get to finally be a part of all of your 72 hours of stasis Kindly, Jenna Aburashed Head of organization

It is with immense pride that I serve as the Head of Debate in this year’s Montessori MUN, a journey that has become far more meaningful to me than I ever expected. I think the strangest part about MUN is that the things that stay with you the longest are rarely the late nights of preparation, the difficult topics, or the endless resolutions. Instead, you remember the pride of accomplishing something you once thought was beyond you, the relationships you built along the way, and, most importantly, the person you have become. I have written and deleted this paragraph more times than I would like to admit. Every time I try to explain what MUN means to me, I feel like I can never quite capture it. How do you explain something that became such a big part of your life? Maybe you will understand it yourself. You can hear every piece of advice, but you only truly understand MUN once you have lived it. To me, MUN was never only about discussing world problems or finding solutions to them. Between the debates, the friendships, the accomplishments, and even the mistakes, it slowly became something far more personal. It gave me experiences and lessons that I did not know I needed and, in many ways, became the missing piece to complete the person I am today.
